Soccer Camp

Despite the 100+ degree temperatures, the boys went to their first soccer camp last week! It was a British soccer camp and all that meant was that the instructors were foreign and knew more about soccer than us Americans... or so it seemed. The good thing was that the boys had no trouble understanding their accent (although, I did at times) and listened really well. Their coach was Coach Ian and he did an awesome job with their age group (3-5 year old's). It was funny to watch some of the things they did to make it fun for their age. He even had them singing and dancing to "Staying Alive". Pretty funny considering the kids had no idea what they were talking about.
It was Bryant's first time on a soccer field and he did pretty good; although, about 45 minutes in, he was done. He stuck it out everyday but that was only because I bribed them with snacks and Gatorade when they were finished. It seemed to do the trick and he stopped asking to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes. Cameron liked it and did a really good job listening and learning. I did discover that he preforms up to others; his soccer buddy that is awesome at soccer got moved up with the older kids, and once he was gone Cameron's since of "urgency" was gone. He still did good, but not as good as when he had some fierce competition. Guess we'll have to work on that. All in all, a fun camp... we will see if it produces some soccer stars this season!

Letters from the Coach:

Bryant: Really good job this week, Bryant. You were a great asset to the group and a brave one as well! Just remember when dribbling keep the ball close to your feet. Coach Ian

Cameron: Excellent job this week, Cameron. You have very good basic skills and your ability to listen to instruction will benefit you as you progress. Just remember when passing - say No to the toe! Coach Ian
