This Week We....

I actually started this post to blog about the boys learning how to ride their bikes without training wheels, but after down loading the pictures on my camera I decided I had to add a few things.

This week the boys went to VBS and LOVED it!!!  They were excited every night to go and were full of energy and enthusiasm when I picked them up.  I got an ear-full of them telling me everything they did that night.  The topic was "Everything is possible with God" and the theme was fly.  They did all sorts of flying experiments, made crafts, and just watched stuff fly through the air.  Right up any boys ally!  My favorite was watching them sing and dance to praise and worship music and not be afraid to get on stage and have some fun!  It does my heart good to see my kids worshiping God uninhibitedly.  I hope that part never ends!!!

I put aside my OCD one morning this week and allowed the kids to paint!  I bought some wooden animals at the craft store and they each got to paint theirs anyway they wanted.  The only rule was, no shirts.  That about drove Cameron crazy.  The kid NEVER goes without a shirt, even swimming.  He just doesn't like it.  Hayden and B on the other hand have no problem.  Hayden likes to run around naked and yell, "naked baby!!" and laugh at as she's doing it (I think we are going to have to watch that one).  The one smart thing I did was to substitute Hayden's acrylic paints that came in her kit with some finger paints I bought at the store.  Good thing!  Check out the mess she made!  It was all worth it, they had a great time and I enjoyed watching them.

And finally, the topic I started this post about... Cal has been saying we need to teach the boys to ride their bikes without training wheels, and tonight was the night!  We went for a walk/bike ride and when we got home the wheels came off!  The boys were all about it and very excited.  Daddy gave them a few pointers on how to get the petals just right to get started, and how to lean into a turn, and they both took off.  They each made it about 20 feet in the grass by themselves on their first attempt!  We moved to the neighbors driveway that is much longer then ours and better then the asphalt road.  They each crashed a few times (luckily they seemed to ditch in the grass) but after about 30 minutes Cameron could go up and down the driveway and turn in between, and Bryant could go all the way down and have a pretty graceful dismount.  Hayden even got in on the action and wanted to race the boys on her "mo-cycle" as she calls it.  She got broadsided a few times, but she was tough and had a great time.  They are getting so big!  I can't stop them from growing up, so instead I'll be thankful they CAN do "big kid" things like learn to ride a bike!  So proud :)
