Both boys played baseball this past spring and did a great job! Bryant played t-ball and finally decided about halfway through the season that he really wanted to play and get this t-ball thing down. His understanding of the game is awesome, unfortunately his skills don't always allow him to do what he wants to do or what he knows to do. He hits really well and hard! Goodness, when he's on he can hit it to the fence - granted usually on the ground and past several playing in the dirt kinda boys... but still, hard! His favorite position is pitcher. He fields the ball really well and can throw it to first pretty consistently. Now first base hardly ever catches it, but at least the effort is there. I think his favorite is when a kid is on 3rd and he gets to race to home plate and try to get him out. T-ball really isn't that much fun to watch, but when it's your kid out there... it really isn't that bad, most days. Let's just say we are looking forward to coach pitch next year and I think he is too.
Cameron played again this year too. For it only being his second season to ever play he did great! In fact, we just finished up his extended season because he made All-Stars! It was an all 7 year old team and being that they had to play most teams with 8 and some 9 year olds, they weren't very competitive. The experience was great though and he improved a great deal on his fielding. He played pitcher in regular season and then beat out two other boys to play in AS too (pitcher at this age is a position and not actually the pitcher). He got so much better at catching pop-flies and was much more consistent at making a play to a base and backing up the other positions. He hit really well during regular season and even got an in the park home run! He kinda got in a slump during AS and would consistently get on base, but it just wasn't the great hitting he had been doing. No worries, we have awhile to practice before the next season! My 2 most memorable plays this season were: 1) a batter hit a line-drive right to Cameron's right and he stuck his glove out, spun around, and caught the ball! Funny thing was it happened so fast he wasn't even sure he had it, and 2) Cameron mishit a ball and it went 3 feet in front of home plate. He ran like mad and made it to first and then the other team overthrew the ball and he ended up making it all the way around just beating the catcher home! Hysterical! In the park home run from an accidental bunt!
And as always, kudos to the best Daddy in the world who made it to almost all the practices and games of BOTH boys and was on the field assistant coaching BOTH as well! Great job boys! We had fun watching you guys and cheering you on (Haydie-Bug too).
