Hot dogs, baseball and fireworks... does it get any more American then that? That's how we spent our 4th, relaxing with friends and letting the kiddos run and play. Besides a little sparkler incident (kids playing with fire... what an awesome idea we had) it was a great evening. This year I tried explaining to Cameron what the 4th of July was about. Unfortunately, I couldn't stop myself from using words like independence and freedom, extremely helpful I'm sure to a 4 year old! I had a friend tell me later she told her kids it was our country's birthday. Simple and to the point. You see why I'm not homeschooling, it would be bad for all of us!
