Soccer Kids

Soccer season is officially over and this year has been a good one!  Both of the boys are playing this time and that means twice the practice, twice the games, and twice the fun!  This was Bryant's first year and I think he has been taking some notes from watching his big brother.  Pretty early in the season we realized we should have moved him up to the U-5 division, but a little late for that.  Unfortunately at this age, many of the kids have never seen a game or really even understand the concept.  Bryant on the other hand, got it.  He scored 6 goals in his first game and continued the trend throughout the season.  Sometimes he would just stand and watch the others, but I think it was because it was so chaotic he didn't want to get in the mix of it.  He'd wait for the ball to pop out and then go after it.  It seemed to work pretty well for him.  The funniest thing he did all year was in the first 3 games.  He would score a goal and then look over and point to me on the sidelines.  Kinda like saying, "That one was for you!"  I think in reality he was trying to do a "thumbs up" but didn't know how, so it turned into a point.  Whatever the reason it was hysterical and everyone would start laughing.  Of course, when I finally remembered the video recorder and camera, he stopped doing it.  Isn't that the way it usually is?!  He did great though and we are so proud of our little Pirate!

The goals weren't always graceful, but they went in

The whole team!  Good job Coach Audry.

Cameron played again for the 3rd season (I think) and good ol' Daddy was again the Coach.  We had 4 out of 8 returning players - Thomas, Kasen, Kaden, and Cameron.  It has been so much fun to see these guys grow and play together, and lucky for me all their parents are great too.  The new guys all turned out to be pretty good, so that made Daddy's job a little easier.  Even though they don't keep score, we do, and they played the whole season undefeated!  They are actually starting to pass the ball to each other and play some positions too.  Cal has them so well trained he can just yell things from the sidelines and they know what to do.  Cameron played really well this year.  He scored a goal in most of the games and played great defense.  He's really a leader on the field and you can see him out there yelling (nicely) at the other guys when they aren't in the right place.  He really gets into the games and is very competitive (like his Daddy).  He's turning out to be quite a little soccer player!  Great job Hotshots, and Coach Daddy!!

And last but not least, there was little Hayden who was drug to all the games, usually during nap time, and had to fight, with whatever brother was not playing, for a chair to sit in and fend off all the nice people who wanted to hold her. She did well and made the best of the whole situation playing with balls, water bottles, cones, or whatever else she could find for entertainment. She even made her Daddy multitask every once in awhile and hold her while he was coaching... sneaky little girl!
