Party Til Easter

The celebrations to commemorate Hayden's 1st year have finally drawn to a close. They started the day of her birthday and finally ended this past Easter weekend. They went something like this:

The Day: The boys decided she needed something special for her birthday so they asked if we could take her to McDonald's for lunch. Sneaky, aren't they? She enjoyed baby food while they enjoyed Happy Meals! Don't feel to sorry for her, she may have stolen a fry or two. In the evening, Cameron had soccer practice so all 3 boys headed out. I felt a little sorry for her since we hadn't done much celebrating, so I let her open a present. I wish I would have had my video camera because she was hysterical! She loved the wrapping paper, but had a little predicament. Every time she would tear a piece of paper off she wanted to keep it; but, if she kept it in her hand, she couldn't tear off more. Her solution... tuck it under your chin and keep on tearing! The pictures don't do it justice!

The weekend: The real party was scheduled for the weekend with MeMaw and PaPaw. I had a friend make a cake for her but despite her best effort, Hayden was not impressed. I thought, based on the boys, that she would have torn the cake apart but true to being a girl she didn't. She really wanted to hold it and touch it, but all she did was pull the polka dots off and hand them to people. She took a bite or two but really wasn't interested in eating it. Oh well, more for us.
She had fun unwrapping her gifts and was most impressed with the vacuum cleaner the boys picked out for her (the only time in life it is appropriate to get a vacuum for your birthday... just saying). It was a great day and we were so happy M&P made it in to celebrate with us.

Easter weekend: So in reality this weekend wasn't all about Hayden, but it did wrap up the birthday festivities. My whole family met at my sister's and Hayden got to enjoy a little spoiling and a few more presents to open. She also got to enjoy a little skinny dipping in the pool (again, the only time in life this is appropriate). I guess if you have to forget something when you are packing it might as well be the babies swimsuit and swim diapers. She didn't seem to mind and the boys LOVED that she was in the water with them!
The boys also had a great time swimming in the pool and playing with their cousins and all their "big kid" stuff. They even got to experience cascarones for the first time (ca-sones as B called them). The only down part of the whole weekend is that B got pink-eye AGAIN. So, if his eyes look a little funny in the pictures you know why.
All in all, we really do feel so blessed to have an amazing family and a Father that died so that we can LIVE! Thank you Jesus!

HAPPY EASTER!!!
